The government may use about NIS 1.4 billion from the Ministry of Environmental Protection's cleaning fund to finance the increase in reservists' compensation and the grant it has committed to provide them. Calcalist has learned that this is the agreement currently emerging between the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Finance, in light of the need to find a quick budget source for the government's decision regarding the salaries of reserve soldiers.
It should be noted that the government's proposal on the issue was submitted without the involvement of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and was in fact placed on its head, but it now appears that the issue is on the way to agreement between the Ministries of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Finance.
The money from the cleaning fund, which is intended to provide end solutions for waste in order to reduce high landfill rates, will be transferred to the Ministry of Finance as a temporary loan and will return to the Ministry of Environmental Protection in the future, subject to various projects for which it will be required. To date, the Ministry of Finance has borrowed NIS 2 billion from the cleaning fund.
