This year as well, Eilat won the maximum star rating in the national competition "A Beautiful and Sustainable Campus in a Beautiful Israel" for 2022. The competition, sponsored by the Council for a Beautiful Israel, the Ministry of the Interior and the Local Government Center, ranks cities and local councils that provide the best quality of life to residents and care about the environment. In addition to fostering the public space, this year the municipality also initiated cleaning of the façade of buildings in the older neighborhoods in order to encourage residents to preserve their private space, thereby improving the quality of life and protecting the environment. Mayor Eli Lankri congratulated the municipal staff for their work and the volunteers of Kirya Yaffe who accompany the competition year after year.

The city of Eilat, which has been participating in the national competition for 18 years, wins year after year the maximum star rating (5 beauty stars) and every 5 years wins the flag of beauty – an award given to outstanding cities and towns. Thanks to its perseverance, Eilat has also been awarded the "Decade of Excellence" award over the years and another award of excellence as one of the four municipalities that invest the most in the quality of life of their residents and in community activities. Alongside the Kirya Yaffe competition, Eilat participates in the range of competitions held by the Council for a Beautiful Israel to promote the quality of life and the environment, including a beautiful Kirya, road safety and public shelters. In these competitions as well, Eilat wins the maximum star rating every year.

At the ceremony of awarding the certificate to the mayor and the directors of the municipal departments, Dorit Zubari, director of the Eilat and Arava region at the Council for a Beautiful Israel, said: "The cultivation of the city and the continuous improvement is evident in every corner, in squares, parks, educational institutions and neighborhoods. These are alongside renewal that is also evident in the city with new academic institutions, urban renewal in neighborhoods, attractions and more."
